Precision Sieving for Pharmaceutical Processing

Russell Finex is a UK-headquartered global leader in fine mesh separation technology, founded in 1934 and now operating across 140+ countries. With over 90 years of experience in removing contamination from ingredients and finished products, Russell Finex manufactures vibratory sieves, screeners, and ultrasonic mesh deblinding systems from ISO 9001 accredited facilities.

For pharmaceutical manufacturing, Russell Finex’s Compact Sieve platform provides check-screening and safety sieving across three configurations — standard, high-containment, and vacuum conveying — all sharing less than half the headroom of traditional vibratory sieves with tool-free disassembly for rapid changeover.

MHS Pharma represents Russell Finex across the Northeast United States, supporting pharmaceutical manufacturers with equipment selection and application engineering for sieving and screening requirements.

Why Russell Finex

Half the Headroom

The Russell Compact Sieve platform uses less than half the height of a traditional vibratory sieve while achieving higher throughput per unit mesh area. Straight-through design with side-mounted motor fits into existing production lines and areas of limited headroom.

OEL 5 Containment

The Compact Airlock Sieve achieves validated OEL 5 containment (<1 µg/m³) at the equipment level via a patented TLI (Twist, Lock and Inflate) pneumatic clamping system — without requiring an external isolator or downflow booth.

Ultrasonic Deblinding

The Vibrasonic® 2000 system applies ultrasonic energy directly to the sieve mesh, preventing blinding with cohesive, static-prone, or fine powders — down to 20 µm (635 mesh). Eliminates the need for mechanical scrapers, brushes, or rubber balls.

Pharmaceutical-Grade Construction

cGMP-compliant design with FDA-compliant materials and ATEX certification for hazardous areas. Contact parts polishable to 0.1 Ra. Full DQ/IQ/OQ/PQ documentation packages available to support validation.

Applications

Russell Finex equipment serves pharmaceutical check-screening and safety sieving:

  • Safety screening of incoming raw materials, excipients, and APIs
  • Check screening of finished powders prior to tablet compression or capsule filling
  • High-containment sieving of potent compounds (HPAPI / OEB 4–5)
  • Inline screening during pneumatic conveying
  • Deagglomeration of milled and blended powders
  • Particle size control for solid dose manufacturing
