Overview

DEC PTS Powder Transfer System

The PTS is DEC’s flagship technology and the foundation of their product ecosystem. A patented vacuum dense-phase conveying system that uses a unique flat membrane filtration concept to transfer powders as if they were liquid, eliminating the need for gravity charging and multi-floor process layouts.

PTS uses alternating vacuum and pressure cycles to move powder through sealed tubing at low velocity (1–3 m/s). The patented flat filter membrane separates the transport gas from the powder, then back-flushes to fully discharge. This makes it the only vacuum dense-phase system that can be fully sterilized (SIP).

Over 5,000 PTS systems operational worldwide.

Key Features

Patented Flat Membrane Filtration

Handles powders that defeat conventional vacuum conveyors — very fine (<1 µm), cohesive, wet, sticky, and explosive (MIE <1 mJ). No product retention, no particle damage, no segregation.

Eliminates Gravity Charging

Transfers powder horizontally or upward through sealed tubing, removing the need for multi-floor layouts. One system can charge multiple process vessels from a single level.

CIP/SIP Hygienic Design

Available for PTS 80–400. CIP cleans by transferring liquid through the system with no dismantling. SIP version achieves SAL 10⁻&sup6; sterility assurance.

Mobile Version

Control panel, vacuum pump, PTS, and suction lance on a trolley. Ready for production in minutes. One mobile unit serves multiple processes across a facility.

SafeChange Filter System

Flexible film isolator with zipper attaches to the PTS cover flange, allowing filter membrane changes without cleaning the PTS. Retrofit possible on existing systems.

No Moving Parts

The product path contains no mechanical conveyors, screws, or moving components. Powder moves by pressure differential alone, minimizing wear, maintenance, and particle attrition.

Applications

  • Reactor charging (pharmaceutical and chemical)
  • Dryer and centrifuge discharge
  • IBC and drum filling and emptying
  • Process linking — connecting multiple unit operations
  • Sterile and aseptic powder transfer
  • Contained transfer of potent compounds (<1 µg/m³)
  • Tablet press and capsule filler feeding
