In pharmaceutical solid dose manufacturing, sieving is a critical in-process control, the step that verifies incoming materials meet particle size specifications and that foreign particle contamination is intercepted before it reaches the blend. For pharmaceutical manufacturing, Russell Finex’s Compact Sieve platform provides check-screening and safety sieving across three configurations (standard, high-containment, and vacuum conveying), all sharing less than half the headroom of traditional vibratory sieves with tool-free disassembly for rapid changeover.

Why Russell Finex
Half the Headroom
The Russell Compact Sieve platform uses less than half the height of a traditional vibratory sieve while achieving higher throughput per unit mesh area. Straight-through design with side-mounted motor fits into existing production lines and areas of limited headroom.
Equipment-Level Containment
The Compact Airlock Sieve achieves validated OEL 5 containment (<1 µg/m³) at the equipment level via a patented TLI (Twist, Lock and Inflate) pneumatic clamping system, without requiring an external isolator or downflow booth. For facilities handling potent compounds, this means the sieving step can meet containment requirements without adding isolator infrastructure to the process line.
Ultrasonic Deblinding
The Vibrasonic® 2000 system applies ultrasonic energy directly to the sieve mesh, preventing blinding with cohesive, static-prone, or fine powders, down to 20 µm (635 mesh). Eliminates the need for mechanical scrapers, brushes, or rubber balls.
Validated Process Control
A sieve is only as good as the evidence behind it. cGMP-compliant design with FDA-compliant materials and ATEX certification for hazardous areas. Contact parts polishable to 0.1 Ra. Full DQ/IQ/OQ/PQ documentation packages support qualification of the sieve as a verified in-process control point in the manufacturing flow.
Tool-Free Disassembly
No clamp rings and no wrenches. All contact parts strip down without tools using quick-release clamps, so screen changes and cleaning between batches take minutes rather than a maintenance call. Easy-to-clean contact parts support rapid product changeover.
Rubber Suspension, Not Springs
Russell machines use solid rubber vibration mounts in place of exposed coil springs. The result is noticeably quieter operation, as low as 70 dBA on the standard Compact Sieve and below 65 dBA on the Mini Sifter, with a cleaner, safer working environment around the machine.
