Overview
Conical screen mills are the workhorse of pharmaceutical size reduction. A rotating impeller forces material through a conical screen, producing a controlled, narrow particle size distribution with minimal fines. Frewitt offers conical mill heads across two production platforms and a lab platform, covering throughput from bench-scale development to 5,000 kg/h production.
The FlexMill CW-150 and CW-200 are the premium conical sieve heads, running on the FlexMill platform with automatic head detection, touchscreen HMI, and 21 CFR Part 11 data integrity built in. The CW-150 handles 500 to 1,500 kg/h, the CW-200 handles 1,000 to 2,500 kg/h. Both process input up to 5 cm down to 150 microns. OEB 5 containment is available without a dedicated isolator, and ATEX Zone 0/20 is standard.
The EasyMill CM-200 and CM-250 deliver the same conical milling process on a simpler, lighter platform with button-and-display controls. The CM-250 reaches 5,000 kg/h, making it the highest-throughput conical mill in the Frewitt range. At 160 to 200 kg on a mobile stand, these units reposition easily between production suites.
Lab-scale development starts on the FlexMill Lab with a CW-50 conical sieve head. Because the production CW heads use the same conical geometry and milling principles, the process parameters and design space established at lab scale transfer directly to production.

Controlled Particle Size Distribution
Conical screen geometry produces a narrow, repeatable PSD with minimal fines generation. Screen selection determines target particle size. Consistent results from batch to batch.
Platform Compatibility
Conical mill heads share the FlexMill and EasyMill base units with hammer mill, oscillating, and rotary sifter heads. Add conical milling to an existing Frewitt line by purchasing a head, not a second machine.
OEB 5 Containment
FlexMill CW heads achieve operator exposure below 1 µg/m³ for processing potent APIs. Compatible with containment enclosures for fully enclosed powder handling.
Lab-to-Production Scale-Up
The CW-50 lab head uses the same conical geometry as production CW-150 and CW-200 heads. Process parameters established in development transfer directly to production scale.
Two Platform Options
FlexMill CW: touchscreen HMI, automatic head detection, 21 CFR Part 11, OEB 5. EasyMill CM: button controls, lighter, EHEDG compliant. Same milling process, different automation levels.
Compact and Mobile
EasyMill CM units weigh 160 to 200 kg on a mobile stand. FlexMill CW units fit a 1,305 x 860 mm footprint. FreLift lifting column option for height adjustment and flexible integration.
