Overview

CDM dual-frame blender

The CDM Dual-Frame Blender, also called the A-Frame Blender, is CDM’s highest-capacity tumble blender, engineered for large-volume powder and granule mixing with stability. The dual-support frame design ensures smooth rotation of large vessels at production scale.

A solid, precision-machined shaft supports the vessel on three industrial-duty bearings, driven by a direct-drive TEFC gearmotor with a fail-safe brake and encoders for position feedback. The A-frame is fabricated from 304 stainless steel with a brushed finish, and motors, gearboxes, and enclosures sit fully contained within the frame footprint.

The blender accepts a range of vessel shells, including V-shell, offset cone, double cone, and bin geometries, so the mixing profile can be matched to the product. A precision barrel coupling keeps the vessel aligned with the frame and accommodates slight floor unevenness to prevent binding and vessel stress.

All external welds laid, pit-free, and chemically cleaned. Optional 21 CFR Part 11 compliance with data logging, archiving, audit trail, and tiered security.

Key Features

Highest-Capacity Tumble Blender

The dual-support frame handles blending capacities up to 200 cu-ft, with smooth rotation of large vessels for production-scale batches.

Direct-Drive Rotation

A TEFC gearmotor with fail-safe brake turns a precision-machined shaft carried on three industrial-duty bearings, with encoders for position feedback.

Interchangeable Vessel Shells

V-shell, offset cone, double cone, and bin vessels run on the same frame, so the mixing geometry can be matched to the product.

Barrel Coupling Alignment

A precision barrel coupling keeps the vessel aligned with the frame and accommodates slight floor unevenness to prevent binding and vessel stress.

Allen-Bradley Control System

A 10.4″ PanelView Plus 7 touchscreen drives a CompactLogix 5380 PLC and PowerFlex 525 VFDs, with automated sequencing in NEMA 4X stainless enclosures.

Drum Loading Module

An optional module uses pneumatic cylinders to raise and lock a drum over a butterfly valve, then rotates 180° for controlled discharge into the vessel. Fully removable.

Applications

  • Large-batch blending for pharmaceutical production
  • Bulk API blending at production scale
  • Large-volume granulation mixing
  • Tablet press feedstock preparation
  • Nutraceutical and food production blending
  • Specialty chemical mixing
